Iran’s DM Denounces Saudi Air Raid on Yemen as War Crime

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan condemned a Saudi airstrike that killed scores of Yemeni people in Sana’a on Saturday as an unforgivable and brutal crime, saying Saudi Arabia’s rulers should be put on trial for war crimes.

“The bigoted, arrogant and aggressive regime of Al Saud has committed an unforgivable crime in continuation of their barbaric measures against the oppressed and defenseless people of Yemen,” the Iranian minister said on Sunday.

He also called for international reaction to Saturday’s attack on Yemenis, saying anyone who remains silent about the brutal strike will be “an accomplice” in the Saudi regime’s crime.

Describing the Saudi rulers as “war criminals”, Dehqan stressed that they should be immediately brought to justice.

On Saturday, Saudi-led warplanes targeted a crowded funeral ceremony in Sana’a, killing over 140 people and injuring more than 530 others.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been launching deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to the fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

According to UN estimates, over 10,000 Yemenis, including 4,000 women and children, have lost their lives in the military campaign.
