Iran, Georgia Sign Agreements

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Top officials from Iran and Georgia signed five memorandums of understanding (MoUs) on Saturday to promote cooperation between Tehran and Tbilisi in various fields.

The documents were inked in Tehran, following a meeting of high-ranking delegations of the two countries, attended by Iranian First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri and Georgia’s visiting Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili.

The MoUs entail cooperation between Iranian and Georgian organizations in agriculture, sports activities, information and communications technology, as well as establishment of a refinery complex in Georgia.

The two sides also released a joint statement on enhanced cooperation on environmental issues.

The Georgian premier’s trip to Tehran comes a few days after Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif paid a visit to Tbilisi in a tour of regional countries.
