In a message on Saturday night, Rouhani praised the Iranian women’s championship in Asia as a sign of “dynamism, capabilities and competency of Iranian women and girls.”
He also expressed the hope that Iranian female athletes in all sports would continue to progress with stronger support from officials.
In the AFC Women’s Futsal Championship final in Thailand on Saturday, Iranian girls defeated Japanese 5-2 to retain their title in the previous and first edition of the games in Malaysia in 2015.
A hat-trick to Sara Shirbeigi and further goals to tournament most valuable player (MVP) Fereshteh Karimi and veteran Fahimeh Zarei sealed the outstanding victory for Iran.
