TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani offered his congratulations to the people and government of Bulgaria on the national day of the Balkan nation.

Politics

In a message to Bulgarian President Rumen Radev on Tuesday, Rouhani felicitated the European country on its national day, which is celebrated on March 3.

Pointing to the age-old ties and common interests between the two nations, the Iranian president expressed hope that bilateral relations in all political, economic and cultural areas would expand in the future.

Bulgaria celebrates its national day on March 3rd, marking liberation from almost 500 years of Ottoman rule more than 130 years ago.

On March 3, 1878, the Treaty of San Stefano between Russia and the Ottoman Empire ended the Russo-Turkish War, and paved the way for bringing Bulgaria back to the political map.
