Diplomat to Discuss Closer Iran-Ivory Coast Ties

TEHRAN (Tasnim) — Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for African and Middle Eastern Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian, who left Tehran for West Africa on Sunday, is scheduled to pay a visit to Ivory Coast and meet with a number of high-ranking officials of the country.

During his meetings with the Ivorian officials, Amir Abdollahian is to discuss various issues, including ways to boost Tehran-Abidjan ties in all spheres.

The Iranian foreign ministry official will also discuss the establishment of a joint political committee between the two countries during his trip to the country.

Ivory Coast, officially the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, is a country in West Africa. It borders the countries Liberia, Guinea, Mali, Burkina Faso, and Ghana. Its southern boundary is along the Gulf of Guinea.

Since 1983, Ivory Coast's official capital has been Yamoussoukro; Abidjan, however, remained the administrative center. Most countries maintain their embassies in Abidjan, although some have closed.
