Belgium has been drawn in Group G of the 2026 World Cup along with Iran, Egypt and New Zealand.
Six months before the 2026 World Cup, Garcia naturally discussed the Red Devils' objectives for the global tournament.
“We mustn't just be content with going to the World Cup, but go there with the ambition to go as far as possible. Objective and ambition are two different things. The objective will be to advance from the group stage, if possible, in first place. Ambition is limitless. Anything is possible, even if it was more so before than it is today,” he explained.
With Egypt, Iran, and New Zealand as opponents in the group, the Frenchman is keeping his feet on the ground.
"Egypt is one of the best African nations. Iran and New Zealand play different styles of football; we'll need to study them carefully and understand why Iran is 20th in the FIFA rankings, because that's no coincidence. The draw was interesting; it could have been more difficult.
“We mustn't underestimate these opponents, whom we don't know well. As Thibaut Courtois said, we must respect our opponents, not underestimate them, and not assume that matches are already won. It might be a good thing to start with Egypt, as it is undoubtedly our toughest opponent. This will force us to be fully focused from the very first match,” Garcia added.
