In a statement issued on Monday, the PMU announced the deployment and strengthening of their forces along the border between Iraq and Syria.
The statement said the forces had secured a number of sensitive border areas in the Tarifawi–Hasakah region.
Separately, Iraq’s state news agency INA reported that Adnan Fayhan, first deputy speaker of parliament, held talks with Iraq’s Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari on security issues.
Meanwhile, the report said the two officials stressed the importance of tightening security along the country’s borders.
