In an interview on Tuesday about the ongoing indirect Iran–US talks, Baqaei stated that Iran is present in Geneva with open eyes and an open mind.
Referring to the meeting held a day earlier between Iran’s foreign minister and the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, he noted that the technical dimensions of the negotiations must be consulted with the IAEA, which can play a positive role in the process.
The spokesman added that Iran has brought along technical experts and specialists in sanctions removal, emphasizing that lifting sanctions constitutes an inseparable part of any agreement on the nuclear issue.
He stated that the Iranian negotiating team is present in Geneva with good faith and utmost seriousness and is pursuing a result-oriented approach.
Baqaei further stressed that time is very important and decisive for Iran, noting that the foreign minister has consistently emphasized Tehran’s readiness to remain in Geneva for a longer period, even for several days or weeks, in order to finalize any agreement.
He finally expressed hope that the same level of seriousness and good faith would also be demonstrated by the American delegation.
