Speaking on the sidelines of the second round of indirect Iran–US talks in Geneva on Tuesday, Esmaeil Baqaei stated that entering the “technical phase” means the start of reviewing executive details and specialized intricacies in the two key areas of sanctions lifting and nuclear obligations.
He added that the simultaneous presence of economic, legal, and technical experts in the Iranian delegation, along with the role of the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, has provided the necessary groundwork for these precise discussions.
The spokesman noted that over the past two days, Iran’s strategic viewpoints and considerations had been explained during intensive meetings with the Omani foreign minister and the IAEA chief.
Baqaei further said that since Tuesday morning, those points have been conveyed to the American side through the mediator, and the indirect negotiations have focused on details. He stated that the reason the talks have entered into details in both the nuclear field and sanctions removal is partly due to the presence of Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Rafael Grossi.
The IAEA, as the responsible body, plays a key role in verification and in advancing the process, Baqaei added.
