In a meeting with Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan, held in Tehran on Tuesday, the Iranian president described ties with neighboring countries—especially Armenia—as a central pillar of Tehran’s foreign policy.
Pezeshkian highlighted the mutual benefits of expanding cooperation across political, economic, transportation, energy, and infrastructure sectors, saying enhanced engagement in these fields would advance the interests of both nations.
He pointed to encouraging progress in joint economic, construction, and transit corridor initiatives, and expressed appreciation for Yerevan’s support for Iranian firms active in Armenia.
The president also reaffirmed Iran’s consistent position on regional issues, emphasizing Tehran’s commitment to sustainable peace, stability, and long-term security. He welcomed the peace agreement reached between Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
For his part, Papikyan characterized Armenia-Iran relations as robust, steady, and on an upward trajectory.
He commended the growing defense cooperation between the two countries and said expanding economic and transportation links are further strengthening bilateral ties, which hold strategic significance for Armenia.
