Hebrew-language media reported that dozens of residents of Yavne sought medical centers and hospitals with symptoms such as eye irritation, a feeling of suffocation, and respiratory problems. They also reported the spread of sharp and unpleasant odors across the city.
Specialists from the Israeli regime’s ministry of environmental protection confirmed that toxic hydrogen sulfide gas had leaked from the city’s central wastewater treatment plant due to an unidentified source, endangering the health of residents.
Based on monitoring findings and public complaints, the ministry of environmental protection has requested the management of the treatment plant to carry out the necessary updates immediately after the facilities return to normal operation. The ministry also called for a professional and thorough investigation into the cause of the incident and for consideration of the necessary measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
A day earlier, the water and sewage company of the Zionist regime had also reported a disruption in sewage collection systems in the city of Bnei Brak, following which wastewater flowed through the streets of the city like a river.
Experts have stated that such incidents in the region are not unprecedented and that the origins of these events are related. However, specialists have so far not identified their main cause.
