Iran Stresses BRICS Role in Supporting Regional Security in Call with Indian Counterpart

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi underscored the need for BRICS to play a constructive role in supporting regional security during a phone conversation with his Indian counterpart, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

Araqchi briefed Jaishankar on the latest developments following US and Israeli military aggression against the country, emphasizing Iran’s firm resolve to exercise its legitimate right to self-defense against aggressors.

The Iranian foreign minister called for international and regional organizations to condemn the military aggression against Iran, highlighting the importance of BRICS as a platform for multilateral cooperation.

He described the bloc’s role as essential in the current context to support stability and security in the region and the world.

Jaishankar, for his part, expressed India’s readiness to expand bilateral and multilateral cooperation in regional and international forums, and stressed the importance of finding ways to strengthen sustainable stability and security in the region as a collective need.
