In a statement released on Monday, the IRGC public relations department said the US president, whom it described as a “liar, terrorist, and child-killer”, alleged that the IRGC intends to target desalination plants in the region and cause suffering to the people of neighboring countries.
The IRGC vehemently refuted this claim, stating that it is the aggressive and anti-popular US army that has initiated war through the killing of children, specifically citing the bombing of 180 schoolchildren in Iran’s Minab.
Furthermore, the statement highlighted that American forces have already targeted five water infrastructure sites, including the desalination plant on Qeshm Island in southern Iran.
The IRGC also lashed out at the US president for threatening to attack Iranian power plants, reasoning that such an assault would disrupt crucial human services, such as hospitals, emergency posts, water networks, and desalination plants.
In response, the IRGC clarified its decision to target the power plants of the occupying Zionist regime and the power facilities of neighboring countries supporting American bases if Iranian power plants are attacked. The IRGC assured that this retaliation would also extend to the economic, industrial, and energy infrastructures in which US entities have stakes.
The statement noted that while Iranian hospitals, emergency centers, and schools have been attacked by the enemy, the IRGC has never retaliated against such centers. However, it warned that any attack on Iranian power plants will trigger a commensurate response.
The IRGC asserted its resolve to respond to any threat at a level that ensures a deterrent response and stated with confidence that the US does not recognize Iran’s capabilities and will witness the Islamic Republic’s strength in action.
The US and the Israeli regime launched a large-scale unprovoked military campaign against Iran following the assassination of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, along with several senior military commanders and civilians on February 28.
The attacks have involved extensive aerial strikes on both military and civilian locations across Iran, causing significant casualties and widespread damage to infrastructure.
In response, the Iranian Armed Forces have carried out retaliatory operations, targeting American and Israeli positions in the occupied territories and at regional bases with waves of missiles and drones.
