US-Israeli Attacks Endangering Caspian Sea Security: Iranian FM

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The military strikes by the US and the Zionist regime on Iran’s northern port city of Bandar Anzali have jeopardized security and stability of the Caspian Sea, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said, calling for concerted reaction by the Caspian littoral states.

In a telephone conversation on Thursday, Araqchi and Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Yermek Kosherbayev discussed the developments in the West Asian region and the repercussions of the military aggression by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran.

Araqchi emphasized the continuation of Iran's defensive operations against the bases and capabilities of the aggressors in the region, asserting the inherent right to self-defense and the legal and ethical responsibility of all countries in the area to prevent the aggressors from using their territory and resources to carry out aggressive actions against Iran.

Araghchi detailed the crimes committed by the American and Israeli aggressors, stating that the actions of the Israeli regime and the United States in targeting Iran’s port of Bandar Anzali have significantly endangered security and stability in the Caspian Sea, and it is essential for the coastal countries to have a unified and decisive response to this criminal and destabilizing action.

For his part, the foreign minister of Kazakhstan expressed concern regarding the current situation and stressed the necessity of quickly stopping the imposed war against Iran, announcing his country's readiness to play a role in helping restore stability and security in the region.

The US and the Israeli regime launched a large-scale unprovoked military campaign against Iran following the assassination of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, along with several senior military commanders and civilians on February 28.

The attacks have involved extensive aerial strikes on both military and civilian locations across Iran, causing significant casualties and widespread damage to infrastructure.

In response, the Iranian Armed Forces have carried out retaliatory operations, targeting American and Israeli positions in the occupied territories and at regional bases with waves of missiles and drones.
