Iran Rejects Claims of Missile Launch Toward Turkey

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi firmly dismissed reports alleging that a missile has been launched from Iran toward Turkey, describing them as baseless and warning of possible false-flag operations.

In a telephone conversation on Tuesday, Araqchi and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan discussed the latest regional developments and exchanged views on ongoing issues.

Fidan referred to a recent four-party meeting in Islamabad attended by the foreign ministers of Turkey, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, emphasizing regional support for halting the war and establishing peace and stability.

Araqchi, for his part, outlined the latest situation regarding the US- and Israeli-imposed war against Iran, stressing the responsibility of all governments to condemn the crimes committed by the aggressors, particularly attacks on schools, universities, scientific centers, historical and cultural sites, energy and production infrastructure, as well as residential areas.

He added that threatening rhetoric by US officials about targeting Iran’s energy and production infrastructure constitutes, in itself, a criminal threat and reflects a clear disregard for the fundamental principles of international law and humanitarian norms, calling for a decisive response from the international community.

The Iranian foreign minister also dismissed as entirely unfounded reports circulated by certain sources claiming that Iran had launched a missile toward Turkey. He warned against the recurrence of false-flag operations by the enemies of regional peace and friendship, and stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran remains committed to the principle of good neighborliness and respect for Turkey’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Araqchi added that Iran is prepared to engage in joint technical cooperation to investigate any such claims.

The two sides also exchanged views on regional developments during the call.

The US and the Israeli regime launched a large-scale unprovoked military campaign against Iran following the assassination of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, along with several senior military commanders and civilians on February 28.

The attacks have involved extensive aerial strikes on both military and civilian locations across Iran, causing significant casualties and widespread damage to infrastructure.

In response, the Iranian Armed Forces have carried out retaliatory operations, targeting American and Israeli positions in the occupied territories and at regional bases with waves of missiles and drones.
