Iran Warns of US-Israeli War Crime Normalization

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi cautioned that the US and Israeli military aggression against Iran could set a dangerous precedent for the normalization of war crimes, with potentially far-reaching implications for regional stability and international norms.

In a telephone conversation on Monday, Araqchi and his Japanese counterpart Toshimitsu Motegi discussed regional developments and the consequences of the continued military aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran.

The top Iranian diplomat condemned the ongoing US-Israeli military aggression against Iran and strongly denounced the rhetoric of American officials threatening to attack Iran's energy infrastructure. Araqchi warned about the normalization of committing war crimes and its implications for the region and the entire international community.

He also emphasized that threats to attack Iran's production and energy infrastructure are clear examples of war crimes and genocide. Araqchi stated that such threats, along with the crimes committed by American and Israeli aggressors in attacks on schools, hospitals, universities, and residential areas, intensify the global community's responsibility to hold accountable and punish the perpetrators of these crimes in domestic and international courts.

The foreign minister then underlined that the Islamic Republic of Iran will continue to defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity against the imposed war by the US and the Israeli regime with all its might and expects all countries to fulfill their responsibilities regarding international peace and security and to condemn the aggressors.

The Japanese foreign minister, for his part, emphasized the necessity of resorting to diplomacy and expressed his country’s support for ongoing efforts at the regional and international levels to stop the war.

The US and the Israeli regime launched a large-scale unprovoked military campaign against Iran following the assassination of then Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, along with several senior military commanders and civilians on February 28.

The attacks have involved extensive aerial strikes on both military and civilian locations across Iran, causing significant casualties and widespread damage to infrastructure.

In response, the Iranian Armed Forces have carried out retaliatory operations, targeting American and Israeli positions in the occupied territories and at regional bases with waves of missiles and drones.
