Hormuz Strait Remains Closed

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Tasnim’s correspondent reported that the Strait of Hormuz remains closed, with all vessel traffic subject to Iran’s discretion.

Politics

According to Mahdi Bakhtiari, Tasnim’s correspondent dispatched to the Persian Gulf region, there is currently no traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, and permission was denied even to an American destroyer that intended to pass through the strait.

The negotiations between Iran and the United States kicked off in Pakistan on Saturday, during which one of Iran's ten conditions is that control over traffic in the Strait of Hormuz will remain under Iran’s authority, and no ship will pass without Iran’s permission.

A military official has told Tasnim that Iran remains determined to allow no vessel to cross the Strait of Hormuz without authorization and that any possible passage will certainly be carried out only with Iran’s approval.
