Qalibaf: Lebanon Ceasefire as Crucial as Iran Truce for Tehran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf stressed that a ceasefire in Lebanon is as important as one in Iran, underscoring Tehran’s continued efforts to push for a lasting truce across all conflict zones.

In a telephone conversation with his Lebanese counterpart Nabih Berri on Thursday, Qalibaf extended condolences over the martyrdom of oppressed and resistant Lebanese people, particularly combatants from Hezbollah and the Amal Movement, while praising the courage and resilience of the Lebanese nation and its leadership.

He stated that Iran has never forgotten its Lebanese brothers and considers them as its own, pointing to efforts and consultations by various Iranian officials, including the president, and noting that he has been continuously following developments in Lebanon and the issue of establishing a ceasefire there, describing it as highly important for Tehran.

Qalibaf added that during the recent Pakistani-mediated negotiations between Iran and the US in Islamabad and afterwards, Iran has been seriously pursuing efforts to compel adversaries to establish a permanent ceasefire in all areas of conflict in accordance with agreements, emphasizing that, for Iran, a ceasefire in Lebanon is as significant as a ceasefire in Iran.

For his part, Berri provided a report on the latest situation regarding Israeli attacks on Lebanon, stating that the Zionist regime is effectively committing crimes in the country and seeking to displace Lebanese civilians, noting that more than 1.2 million people have so far been displaced.

He further stressed that he and resistance fighters remain steadfast on their path, adding that any form of official engagement or consultation with the Israeli regime would certainly not serve the interests of the Lebanese people.

Berri concluded by expressing appreciation for Iran’s seriousness and efforts in supporting Lebanon and the Islamic resistance.
