TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said that US actions and contradictory positions are incompatible with claims of diplomacy, noting that Tehran will take appropriate decisions to safeguard its national interests and security.

In a telephone conversation on Monday with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Araqchi briefed his counterpart on regional developments and the continued and repeated violations of the ceasefire by the United States.

Araqchi decried continued illegal and provocative US actions against Iranian ports and vessels, including a recent attack on the container ship ‘Touska’ and the detention of its crew.

He added that Washington’s unlawful behavior and contradictory positions by its leaders are incompatible with claims of diplomacy, stating that Iran, while closely monitoring the other side’s actions, will take appropriate decisions to protect its national interests and security.

During the call, the two ministers also discussed bilateral cooperation between Iran and Russia aimed at helping restore peace and stability in the region.

The Iranian foreign minister also expressed appreciation for Russia’s readiness to continue consultations to strengthen regional stability and advance joint diplomatic initiatives.
