Society/Culture

In a meeting with cultural figures and artists in the holy city of Mashhad, Ayatollah Ahmad Marvi, the chief custodian of the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS), commemorated late Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and elaborated on his approach to cultural issues.

Ayatollah Marvi noted that one of the distinguishing features of the late Leader, compared to other clerics, was his comprehensiveness—that is, his broad, all-encompassing outlook and expertise across various fields beyond purely religious domains.

He stated that these qualities had made Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei a truly distinct figure, adding that with the passage of time, the martyred Leader luminous character would become better known to society and the world.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Marvi referred to the presence of Imam Reza (AS) in Khorasan and Iran, noting that although Iran possessed a rich and ancient civilization, it was the presence of the eighth Shiite Imam that gave new life and spirit to that civilization and truly revitalized it.

Ayatollah Marvi further condemned remarks by US President Donald Trump who had claimed the need to confront and destroy Iran’s great and rich civilization during the recent US-Israeli war of aggression, saying that the strong presence of people in public gatherings in recent days reflected the vitality and dynamism of Iranian civilization. The cleric contrasted this with “a failed Western and American civilization” marked by exploitation, immorality, wealth accumulation, and plunder.

He further emphasized that, in contrast to a declining Western civilization, an authentic, rightful, and vibrant Iranian civilization continues to exist and actively shapes people’s lives through human and Islamic values.
