In separate telephone conversations with the foreign ministers of Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iraq, and the Republic of Azerbaijan on Friday evening, Araqchi discussed regional developments and briefed his counterparts on Iran’s latest positions and initiatives aimed at ending the war of aggression imposed by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran and restoring peace in the region.
Araqchi said the main source of insecurity imposed on the Persian Gulf region and the Strait of Hormuz has been the US-Israeli military aggression against Iran. He stressed that Iran, acting in good faith and with a sense of responsibility and despite absolute mistrust toward the US due to its repeated breaches of commitments, had entered a new round of negotiations mediated by Pakistan with the goal of bringing the war to a definitive end.
The Iranian foreign minister also appreciated the constructive role and good offices of several regional countries in advancing diplomacy and preventing the region from facing the dangerous consequences of renewed military aggression by the aggressors.
Araqchi emphasized that Iran had not initiated the imposed war and stated that while Tehran is prepared to continue the diplomatic process if the US abandons its excessive demands, threatening rhetoric, and provocative actions, Iran’s Armed Forces remain fully vigilant and ready for comprehensive and decisive defense of the country against any threat or malicious act.
The foreign ministers of the regional countries, for their part, outlined their governments’ views in support of diplomacy and peaceful solutions to end the war and resolve disputes, while also expressing readiness to provide any assistance in that process.
