Iran’s Proposal to US Was ‘Reasonable, Generous’, Spokesman Says

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Foreign Ministry’s spokesman said Tehran’s proposal submitted in response to the US has been “reasonable and generous,” emphasizing that Iran only seeks its legitimate rights and measures aimed at ending the imposed US-Israeli war and enhancing regional security.

Speaking at a weekly press conference on Monday, Esmaeil Baqaei said Iran has not demanded any concessions beyond its lawful rights.

He noted that the Iranian proposal focuses on ending the war across the region, halting maritime piracy against Iranian vessels, and securing the release of Iranian assets that have been frozen for years.

Baqaei said Iran’s proposal for safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and efforts to establish peace and security throughout the region could not be considered excessive or irresponsible demands.

All elements included in Iran’s proposal are “reasonable and generous” and intended for the benefit of both the region and the wider world, he underlined.

The spokesman noted that all issues raised by Iran were supposed to be discussed, but added that the US continues to insist on “unreasonable demands” shaped by the mindset promoted by the Zionist regime.

Asked about reports claiming that Iran and the US lack the will to continue negotiations, Baqaei said Tehran’s current priority is ending the war on all fronts, including Lebanon, ensuring security in the Strait of Hormuz, and preventing hostile actions and blockades against ships. He described these priorities as “responsible and rational” under the current circumstances.

Rejecting US allegations against Iran, Baqaei said Tehran has demonstrated that it is a responsible power in the region while also standing against bullying. He questioned whether Iran had launched military expeditions abroad or engaged in coercive behavior against countries in the Western Hemisphere.

He also lashed out at the US for contributing to a cycle of violence in the region through its very presence there.

Commenting on the future of Iran-US talks and the possibility of another US attack, Baqaei said Iran would fight whenever necessary and would also use diplomatic channels whenever it deemed them effective for securing national interests.

Diplomacy has its own rules, he explained, adding that Iran has consistently shown seriousness in pursuing its legitimate rights while participating in diplomatic processes in good faith.

It is the other side that must prove its seriousness, however, it has so far failed to do so, the spokesman stated.
