Tehran Refutes Baseless Kuwaiti Claims over Four Iranian Citizens

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Foreign Ministry of Iran rejected as “completely baseless and unacceptable” allegations made in statements by the Kuwaiti Foreign and Interior Ministries claiming that Iran had planned hostile actions against the Arab country.

In a statement released on Tuesday night, the ministry strongly condemned Kuwait’s “improper political and propaganda exploitation” of the case involving four Iranian agents who had been carrying out a routine maritime patrol mission.

According to the statement, the Iranian individuals entered Kuwaiti territorial waters after a disruption in their navigation system.

The Foreign Ministry also reiterated Iran’s principled policy of respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all regional countries, including Kuwait, and expressed hope that Kuwaiti authorities would avoid hasty remarks and unfounded accusations and instead pursue the matter through official channels.

The Foreign Ministry further stressed the need for the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kuwait to gain prompt access to the detained Iranian nationals in accordance with international law and called for their immediate release.
