Hamas Condemns Israeli Strikes on Gaza Police Sites, Cites 'Security Vacuum' Scheme

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Israeli forces are not merely killing police officers but are systematically eroding the foundations of civil governance in Gaza, Hamas said.

The Palestinian resistance movement condemned Israeli armed forces’ strikes on police stations as a scheme to create a security vacuum in Gaza.

In a statement released on Sunday, Hamas said, “The targeting by the criminal Israeli occupation of a Palestinian police site north of Gaza City, which resulted in the martyrdom of 6 police officers and personnel, represents a renewed crime.”

The Israeli regime is attempting to spread chaos in the Gaza Strip by continuing to target police centers and personnel, Hamas said.

“The systematic targeting of civilian police personnel is an extension of the war of extermination and attempts to strike at the social fabric,” Hamas warned, emphasizing that “The Israeli war machine failed to subdue our people and their resistance, or force them to surrender.”

The resistance movement called on states guaranteeing the Gaza ceasefire agreement to fulfill their responsibilities and force the regime to halt these dangerous violations.

Hamas further demanded that the ceasefire guarantors confront Israel’s efforts to deepen the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, and support the civilian police apparatus so it can perform its duty to maintain security and protect society.

On April 25, the Israeli regime targeted security installments in the south and north of Gaza, killing 11 policemen in the process.

On March 18, the regime’s armed forces targeted a police vehicle in Gaza, killing 9 police officers.

Israel wants to sow chaos in Gaza and pave the way for the proliferation of regime-supported militias, Hamas said at the time.

Since Israel launched its genocidal assault on Gaza on October 7, 2023, it has killed more than 71,000 Palestinians and wounded at least 172,000 others, most of them children and women.

Furthermore, the Israeli regime has completely destroyed Gaza’s civilian infrastructure, including hospitals, schools, sports facilities, power plants, water reservoirs, and residential areas.

As a result, the people of Gaza have become refugees in the besieged territory, completely dependent on foreign aid, which rarely enters the territory due to Israeli blockades.
