In a message to the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, which was read on Friday by Iran’s minister of industry, mine and trade at the summit in Astana, Kazakhstan, Pezeshkian described the past year as a productive period in the development of trade interactions with EAEU member states.
He said that despite capacities exceeding the current level of trade, realizing the full potential requires the creation of new financial infrastructure, including mechanisms for national currency exchange and independence in payment systems.
The Iranian president stressed that the Islamic Republic, while confronting unjust sanctions and external threats, has consistently demonstrated its commitment to strengthening the union and building a powerful region based on national sovereignty and energy security through participation in summits and council meetings.
Pezeshkian described cooperation with EAEU member states as a long-term strategy for regional convergence and, referring to cultural, historical, and geographical commonalities, emphasized the need to make maximum use of existing opportunities to establish a successful model of multilateral cooperation.
He also invited regional partners to transform this solidarity into a turning point for shared growth, saying the future belongs to nations that pave the way for progress and prosperity through mutual trust and synergy.
Referring to recent regional developments, Pezeshkian stated that while diplomatic negotiations with Washington were underway, the US “betrayed the negotiating table” by attacking Iran.
Citing the number of civilian martyrs, including children and teachers, as well as the assassination of senior officials, the Iranian president said attacks on critical energy, transportation, and medical infrastructure not only violated international law but also caused severe disruptions to regional transit and economic corridors.
Pezeshkian further called on the international community to pay serious attention to ongoing crimes in Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran, stressing that the Islamic Republic, by extending a hand of friendship to neighboring countries, seeks to shape a new regional order based on dignity and development.
Referring to Iran’s active membership in initiatives such as BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the president described Tehran’s presence in the Eurasian Union as a symbol of Iran’s determination to expand strategic cooperation with neighboring countries in the fields of trade, energy, and technology.
He added that regional economic convergence is the key to sustainable growth and shared prosperity in the face of the plots of disruptive powers.
