Average Gasoline Prices in US Rise 42.2% Year-on-Year in May

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The average price of gasoline in the United States increased by 9.2% month-on-month in May and by 42.2% year-on-year, APA reports, citing the US Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics.

The average price of diesel also rose by 60% in May compared to the same period of last year.

The average price of gasoline in the country increased by 42.2% year-on-year in May, reaching $4.48 per gallon (approximately 3.785 liters).

Note that the price of one gallon of gasoline stood at $3.15 in May 2025.

The increase in gasoline prices in May was calculated at 9.2% compared to April.

The average price of diesel in the country also rose by 60% in May compared to the same month last year, reaching $5.60 per gallon.

The price of diesel fuel, which increased by 1.8% compared to April this year, had been forecast at $3.50 per gallon for May 2025.
