Speaking at a gathering of the people of the northeastern city of Gorgan on Thursday evening, Deputy Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Hamidreza Hajibabaei emphasized the country's nuclear rights, saying uranium enrichment is the inalienable right of the Iranian nation and is non-negotiable.
“No country can deprive the Iranian nation of this legal and legitimate right, and the Islamic Republic will not back down from it,” he stated.
He said Iran will not back down in the face of the enemies’ threats and will respond to them with strength.
Referring to the enemies’ goals against Iran, Hajibabaei said that in one of the studies conducted in the United States, before the start of the 12-day war in June 2025, US President Donald Trump was warned that Iran was on the verge of an international leap and that if no action was taken, it would become a major global power.
“In that analysis, three main factors of Iran’s power were considered; first, Iran’s thousands-year-old civilization, second, its possession of the enormous capital of pure Muhammadan Islam, and third, the existence of an intelligent, capable and uniquely talented people. Together, these three factors have provided the capacity to transform Iran into an international power.”
The senior parliamentarian said the enemies were worried about this issue because they were seeking to build a dominant power centered on the Zionist regime in the region and wanted the entire region to be under the influence and domination of this regime, but Iran, as the Axis of Resistance, prevented the realization of this project.
He went on to say that the enemies pursued three main goals in the 12-day war. “They wanted to target the Iranian civilization, weaken Islam, and separate the people from the system.”
Even American officials spoke openly about the disintegration of Iran and thought that by dividing the country, creating civil war, and conflict between different ethnic groups and regions, they could destroy the Islamic Republic and throw Iran into chaos, Hajibabaei noted.
“But in the very first days, the Iranian nation gave a decisive response to this conspiracy, and all people, despite their different political and social tastes, stood together. The enemies observed that the Iranian nation stood behind the leadership and the establishment at critical junctures and did not allow foreigners to exploit them.”
