Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Mo’meni and his Pakistani counterpart Mohsin Naqvi met in Tehran on Saturday to discuss bilateral cooperation, border security, economic ties, and regional developments.
Following the meeting, Mo’meni said part of Naqvi’s visit focused on bilateral issues, including border security, combating drug trafficking, and countering terrorism.
He added that the two sides also reached important understandings in the economic field.
“Good decisions were taken in the economic sphere, and it was agreed that the volume of trade between the two countries will increase from $3 billion per year to $10 billion per year,” the Iranian minister said.
For his part, Naqvi highlighted the close ties between the two neighboring countries.
“Iran and Pakistan have brotherly relations, and when one brother faces a problem, the other brother feels it as well,” he said.
The Pakistani interior minister expressed hope that ongoing crises would soon be resolved through the efforts of Shehbaz Sharif and Asim Munir.
Naqvi further revealed that his visit carried a special diplomatic mission.
“I am here to deliver a special letter from Field Marshal General Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif concerning the current situation to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei,” he said.
