President Masoud Pezeshkian on Tuesday officially inaugurated and launched operations of the Ardabil-Mianeh railroad line, a long-awaited infrastructure project designed to strengthen passenger and freight transportation in northwestern Iran.
The 173-kilometer railroad, completed with an investment exceeding 10 trillion tomans, was inaugurated through an online ceremony attended by senior officials.
Addressing the ceremony, Pezeshkian said his administration has made every effort to complete the route and bring the project into operation.
He noted that construction of the railroad began 22 years ago and said that if the previous pace had continued, completion would still have taken another three to four years. According to the president, the administration finalized the project within 18 months through concentrated efforts.
Pezeshkian also thanked project managers and executive officials for advancing the work despite crises, wars, sanctions, and various challenges facing the country.
The president said the inauguration reflects the continuation of Iran’s path of progress and demonstrates that the country remains committed to development and resolving economic and infrastructure challenges despite external pressures.
