In a message posted on his X account following his visit to the tomb of Avicenna in Hamedan, Esmaeil Baqaei described standing at the burial site of the celebrated philosopher and physician as a source of pride for every Iranian.
He said that although nearly one thousand years have passed since Avicenna’s death, his name remains alive in the scientific and medical memory of the world.
Baqaei wrote that civilizations can be measured by the people they produce, adding that Iran, at a time when much of the world was wandering in the darkness of ignorance and prejudice, developed medical knowledge that served as a reference for European universities for centuries and advanced rational thought in philosophy to the farthest horizons of its era.
He said Iran is among the few lands whose sons continue speaking to the world centuries after their passing through the enduring influence of their ideas and achievements.
