During a telephone conversation on Thursday, President Pezeshkian and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reviewed the latest developments related to the agreement and discussed ways to expand bilateral cooperation in political, economic, scientific, and regional fields.

The two sides also emphasized coordination for the effective implementation of the MoU and efforts to promote lasting peace and stability in the region.

Pezeshkian thanked the Pakistani government for its sincere, responsible, and constructive mediation during a sensitive period. He specifically acknowledged the roles of Prime Minister Sharif, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, and Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi in supporting diplomatic efforts that contributed to the initial understanding aimed at ending hostilities.

The Iranian president said Pakistan’s approach, based on goodwill, Islamic solidarity, and regional responsibility, reflected the depth of relations between the two neighboring countries.

He also expressed hope that the agreement would help reduce tensions, strengthen regional stability, and open a new chapter of cooperation benefiting the nations of the region.

For his part, Prime Minister Sharif welcomed the conclusion of the MoU, noting that it had been achieved through the participation and coordination of relevant representatives from Iran, the US, and Pakistan.

He described the agreement as an important step toward reinforcing regional peace and stability and commended the Iranian leadership and people for their patience, resilience, and rational approach throughout the diplomatic process.

Sharif reaffirmed that Iran and Pakistan share brotherly relations rooted in longstanding historical, cultural, and religious ties.

The Pakistani prime minister also reiterated Islamabad’s readiness to continue supporting diplomatic initiatives aimed at strengthening regional understanding and expressed interest in expanding cooperation with Iran in science and technology, agriculture, trade, industry, and other areas of mutual interest.

The two leaders concluded the conversation by stressing continued consultations and fuller use of existing capacities to further advance strategic relations between Tehran and Islamabad.
