First Clause of Iran-US MoU Key to Success of Agreement: Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The deputy for information at the office of Iran’s president said the implementation of the first clause of the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the US is essential and warned that continued Israeli actions in Lebanon would undermine the entire agreement.

In a post on his X account regarding the talks held in Switzerland on Sunday, Mohammad Mahdi Tabatabaei stressed that the first priority for the negotiating delegation is securing an end to Israeli actions in Lebanon and ensuring implementation of the initial terms of the agreement.

“The unconditional implementation of the first clause of the Iran-US understanding is a key issue. The continuation of the Zionist regime’s crimes in Lebanon will render the entire understanding ineffective,” he said.

“The first instruction to the (Iranian) negotiating team in Switzerland is to put an end to aggression in Lebanon,” he explained.

“When the first condition of the understanding is not implemented, there is no trust in the implementation of its remaining provisions either,” Tabatabaei stated.
