Hebrew-language media reported that a fire broke out at a power substation in the city of Karmiel and stated that “several hours of electricity disruption across large parts of Karmiel occurred following an explosion and fire at a regional power substation.”
The disruptions caused significant fear and anxiety among Karmiel residents.
One user commenting under the report wrote, “We are overwhelmed by panic — the sound of the explosion, the fire, and a power outage lasting more than five hours.”

According to experts, the preliminary cause of the incident was a sudden voltage surge and malfunction in high-voltage electrical equipment. Although electricity specialists had been working since the early hours of the incident to identify the main source of the disruption, the technical faults reportedly continued a day later, and no definitive solution had yet been found to address the problem.
