Iran’s SNSC Chief Rebukes Trump’s Threats

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council hit back at the US president over his latest threats against Iran, warning that Tehran will respond "in another language" if Washington continues to address the Iranian nation with threats.

Politics

"To the delusional president of America, who today threatened 91 million Iranians, I say: Previously, as the president of a rootless country with a history of only 250 years, you spoke in similar terms about wiping out Iran's several-thousand-year-old civilization. The result for you was nothing but defeat, helplessness, and a request for negotiations and a ceasefire! The Iranian is unfamiliar with the language of threats,” Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Mohammad Baqer Zolqadr said in a message on Monday.

“Therefore, speak to the people of Iran with respect; otherwise, we will respond to you in another language," he warned Trump.

His comments came Donald Trump claimed on Monday that the US would either reach a deal with Iran or "finish the job," renewing his threat of military action following the funeral of martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

"We're either going to make a deal or we're going to finish the job. OK. And it won't be tough to finish the job. I'd rather make a deal, because I don't want to affect 91 million people," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. "We can knock down their bridges in one hour, we can knock out their energy supply.”
