Trump reported about $2.2 billion in income last year, including $1.2 billion from his crypto businesses alone. His family, especially his eldest sons, have also faced intense scrutiny over their business deals during Trump's time in the White House.
The latest YouGov/Economist poll, released Tuesday, found that most Americans believe Trump is using the office of the president for personal gain. Sixty percent of Americans said Trump is using the office for personal gain, while just 27% said he was not. Another 13% said they were not sure, according to the poll.
The results were largely divided along party lines, with 94% of Democrats and 69% of independents believing Trump is using the office for personal gain. Meanwhile, 66% of Republicans said Trump is not using the office for personal gain, Yahoo News reported.
The poll also showed 81% of Republicans who identified as MAGA supporters said Trump isn't using the office for personal gain, while 43% of non-MAGA Republicans said the same. Thirty-four percent of non-MAGA Republicans said the president is using it for personal gain, according to the poll.
The poll also showed Trump with low approval numbers, with just 35% of Americans approving of his job performance compared to 61% who disapproved.
The poll was conducted among 1,603 US adult citizens between July 3-6. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.3 percentage points.
