In a statement on Friday, the council thanked the Iranian and Iraqi people for attending the ceremonies, saying the widespread turnout demonstrated the strong public participation in the events held in Iran and Iraq.

The statement also praised the role of Iranian and Iraqi officials, security forces, emergency services, media organizations, religious groups, volunteers, and other institutions involved in organizing the ceremonies.

The Constitutional Council further expressed gratitude to the Iraqi people for their participation in the funeral ceremonies in Najaf and Karbala, describing it as a reflection of the close ties between the two nations.

The council said the large turnout highlighted national solidarity and called on all relevant institutions to continue serving the public.

The body of martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei was laid to rest next to the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) in Mashhad on July 9 after massive funeral processions in Tehran, Qom, Najaf and Karbala.

Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei was martyred in a joint US-Israeli strike on Tehran on February 28, 2026, at the outset of a 40-day war of aggression against Iran. His martyrdom triggered widespread mourning across the region and the world.
