Spokesman Says Iran Will Pursue Revenge for Martyred Leader through All Means

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran will employ all available legal and diplomatic mechanisms to pursue justice and avenge the martyrdom of late Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and other victims of the US-Israeli aggression against the country, the Foreign Ministry spokesman said.

Speaking at his weekly press conference on Monday, Esmaeil Baqaei said there is no doubt that seeking justice for those responsible for the crimes committed during the 40-day US-Israeli war of aggression against Iran is a political, moral, and legal obligation.

He stressed that the atrocities committed during the onslaught are not subject to any statute of limitations and said combating impunity for war criminals is a well-established principle of international law.

"The pursuit of justice and revenge for the martyred Leader and every single martyr who fell during the US and Israeli attacks is a serious national demand," Baqaei said.

The spokesman said the Foreign Ministry is part of a broader national effort to hold those responsible accountable and will use all available international legal and diplomatic instruments to pursue justice.

He added that important legal measures must also be taken domestically, including the filing of lawsuits on behalf of the families of those martyred or injured during the attacks, describing such action as an essential component of Iran's broader judicial campaign.

His remarks came days after the funeral and burial ceremonies of Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, after which his son, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei, declared that avenging the blood of his father and all those martyred in the two recent wars had become an irreversible national commitment.

In a message issued following the funeral ceremonies, Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei pledged that the legacy of the martyred Leader would be preserved and said the blood of Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and the other martyrs would be avenged.

He stressed that those responsible for the assassinations—from the highest-ranking decision-makers to the direct perpetrators—had been identified and would never escape justice, adding that carrying out revenge did not depend on any individual official but represented a lasting commitment that would ultimately be fulfilled.
