In the telephone conversation on Monday evening, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and his Cypriot counterpart, Constantinos Kombos, exchanged views on the latest regional developments.
Araqchi said the insecurity imposed on the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz is a direct consequence of the US' illegal military aggression against Iran, carried out in coordination with the Zionist regime.
He said Washington's "criminal and provocative" actions in the strategic waterway have not only undermined regional peace and security but have also caused unprecedented disruption to commercial shipping, stressing that the international community must hold the US accountable for the consequences of its actions.
For his part, Kombos reaffirmed his country's commitment to regional peace and security and underscored the importance of pursuing diplomatic efforts to prevent any further escalation of tensions.
