Iran’s Army Decries UK Move against IRGC

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Army condemned the UK’s decision to designate the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps as a "terrorist organization", reaffirming its solidarity with the IRGC and stressing that the two branches of the Armed Forces will continue to stand together in safeguarding Iran.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the Iranian Army denounced the British move, describing the IRGC as a key force in combating terrorism and emphasizing that it has played a significant role in protecting Iran’s national security and contributing to regional stability.

The Army expressed full support for the IRGC, stressing that, under the command of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, the Army and the IRGC remain united in confronting external threats and defending Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The statement came a day after Iran’s Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the British decision, calling it politically motivated and contrary to international law. The ministry emphasized that the IRGC is an integral part of Iran’s official Armed Forces, serving alongside the Army to defend the country’s independence, territorial integrity, and national security.

The Foreign Ministry also highlighted the IRGC’s role in combating the Daesh (ISIL) terrorist group and warned that Tehran reserves the right to take reciprocal measures in response to London’s decision, holding the British government responsible for any political, legal, and diplomatic consequences arising from the move.
