Rumors about Mobilization Meant to Destabilize Russia Ahead of Elections: Medvedev

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – By spreading rumors about impending mobilization in Russia, the enemy is seeking to destabilize the situation ahead of the elections, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said.

Other Media

"This is part of the propaganda campaign ahead of the elections," he said at a meeting of the Russian Security Council’s commission on contracting servicemen for the Russian army, TASS reported.

"Obviously, they are seeking to destabilize the situation in our country, create negative moods," he stated.

"This manifests itself in various ways - even in posts on a number of social media platforms," Medvedev said, citing as an example pseudo-campaigning encouraging people to enlist as contract soldiers "without waiting" for the draft.

"Evidently, this is a contracted story. Or a story fabricated by the enemy," he added.

"I would like to draw the attention of the presidential envoys in the federal districts, head of regions, defense ministry and other officials to this," he said.
