Reza Salehi Amiri said the initial estimate of damage to the historic sites was around 7.5 trillion tomans last year, but a reassessment taking into account rising prices has put the current estimate at more than 10 trillion tomans.
He said experts from the ministry are studying how to restore the damaged sites, adding that some organizations have accepted social responsibility and expressed readiness to contribute to the restoration costs.
The administration will cover part of the expenses, while Iranians living abroad have also contacted the ministry and offered to cover a portion of the costs, he said.
Salehi Amiri noted that emergency protection measures for the damaged heritage sites have already been completed and that his ministry is now studying restoration methods, with specialists working on the process.
He added that restoration work will begin once the war situation improves or security is restored, expressing hope that the sites will return to public use as soon as possible under the supervision of Iranian restoration experts.
