In separate decrees on Monday, Ayatollah Khamenei, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Iran, named Major General Ali Abdullahi the chief of staff of the Armed Forces and Brigadier General Kiyomars Heydari the deputy chief of staff of the Armed Forces.
According to other decrees, Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi was given the rank of Major General and became the commander of the Islamic Guards Corps (IRGC), while Major General Mustafa Izadi assumed the responsibility of the IRGC acting commander.
The Leader also appointed Rear Admiral Ali Ozmaei as the commander of the IRGC Navy and Hujjat al-Islam Hossein Taeb as the commander of the Basij Force.
In the decrees, Ayatollah Khamenei outlined the responsibilities and missions of the six high-ranking commanders.
Ayatollah Khamenei called on Major General Abdollahi to ensure improving the comprehensive and up-to-date defense-security capabilities and readiness of the armed forces and Basij, providing the possibility of timely, revolutionary, and effective responses to any level and type of conventional and new military, cognitive, and combined threats against the Islamic Republic of Iran, and completing the process of merging the General Staff of the Armed Forces and the Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters based on the plan of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
Brigadier General Heidari was urged to help to enhance the defense and security capabilities, strengthen the spiritual foundation and jihadi spirit of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and pay attention to the livelihood needs of the forces, taking into account the opinion of the chief of staff of the Armed Forces.
In the decree appointing Major General Vahidi, the Leader said that in a situation where the sacred system of the Islamic Republic of Iran is in a strategic and fateful confrontation with global arrogance, the following demands are expected to be fulfilled: “Continuous and comprehensive improvement of capabilities for the purpose of maximum deterrence, and intelligent preparation for carrying out powerful offensive operations against the enemy; Cultural advancement in the IRGC organization and strengthening piety, insight, and revolutionary spirit as the inner essence of the IRGC members and commanders; And development of management and command with spiritual and scientific strength and new skills in the organizational hierarchy.”
Major General Izadi was asked to play a jihadi role in enhancing the level of organizational readiness by dividing roles and missions in line with the measures of the IRGC commander.
The Leader called on Rear Admiral Ozmaei to ensure the promotion of training and skills, development of naval equipment and facilities, and boosting intelligence superiority combined with the growth of combat capability and readiness in the IRGC Navy.
Ayatollah Khamenei also called on Hujjat al-Islam Taeb to work for deepening and expanding the culture of mobilization and resistance, strengthening the public information network, increasing the necessary skills and training, along with increasing insight and utilizing new technologies for a grassroots confrontation with enemy threats.
