Negotiation Does Not Mean Surrender: Iran’s President

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said negotiations do not amount to surrender, stressing that Iran is pursuing talks from a position of strength while safeguarding its national interests.

Speaking at a meeting with women activists and experts in Tehran on Wednesday, Pezeshkian said Iran is advancing in negotiations step by step with “wisdom, dignity and expediency,” emphasizing that the goal is to end the war, lift the blockade, unblock frozen assets and subsequently engage in nuclear talks.

He stressed that war is not Iran’s objective and said the country’s priority is to address the concerns of vulnerable groups, including female-headed households, as well as safeguard the future of young people. He also emphasized the importance of defending Iran’s territorial integrity.

Rejecting the notion that negotiations mean surrender, the president pointed to global experience, saying countries such as China have demonstrated their strength through economic competition. He stressed the need to protect the homeland, serve the people and preserve a sense of national belonging in the face of foreign powers, while expressing gratitude for the Iranian people’s support during difficult times.

Pezeshkian said Iran’s recent resistance has been unprecedented, arguing that the country has remained standing despite an attack that could have led to the collapse of other countries.

The president attributed Iran’s resilience to national unity and the people’s presence on the scene, while expressing appreciation for their support during difficult times.

The president also called for greater reliance on people-centered initiatives, coordination among different groups and the use of local and expert capacities to address social and economic challenges.

He stressed that officials should ensure their actions match their words, saying practical conduct has a stronger and more lasting impact than slogans.
