TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran does not seek war but will stand firmly against any aggressor, President Masoud Pezeshkian said, stressing that no power can force a nation determined to resist to surrender.

Speaking at a ceremony, held in Tehran on Saturday to inaugurate a number of infrastructure projects, Pezeshkian said his administration’s commitment is to serve the people with all its strength and work for the country’s dignity, prosperity and progress.

The president also thanked Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei for his message on the occasion of Government Week as well as his guidance and support.

Pezeshkian stressed that “unity and cohesion are the key to our success,” saying that the administration’s main effort over the past two years had been to preserve national unity and cohesion.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is not the initiator of war,” he underlined, adding, “We do not welcome war, but we will stand firmly against any aggressor with strength, and no power can force a nation that is standing with all its strength and determination to surrender.”

Pezeshkian further said that despite diplomatic efforts, the support of the Iranian people, the work of government officials and the sacrifices of commanders of the Armed Forces, Iran would not bow to threats.

“We will not bow our heads before any threat, just as we have demonstrated many times before,” he said.

The president also said that if peace and stability are to be established in the world, “this peace will emerge from within our region.”
