During the meeting, Wang Yi referred to the war waged by the US against Iran, stressing that the continuation of hostilities between Washington and Tehran would not benefit either side.

Wang Yi also called on Washington and Tehran to rebuild the framework for negotiations based on the existing agreement outlined in the Islamabad memorandum of understanding.

Araqchi has traveled to the Chinese capital for an official visit, during which he is scheduled to exchange views with Chinese officials on relations between Tehran and Beijing as well as key regional and international developments.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei announced on Tuesday that the Iranian foreign minister would hold talks with his Chinese counterpart on bilateral ties and major developments in the region and the world.

The meeting provides an opportunity for the two sides to review relations between Iran and China and exchange views on important developments affecting the region and the international community.
