Speaking at a gathering of university professors of Mashhad and other parts of Khorasan Razavi Province, Moqaddamfar presented the following ten points:
1. Hormuz challenged US power: Iran demonstrated that the US cannot impose its will on the Strait of Hormuz, undermining Washington’s long-standing claim to guarantee energy security and freedom of navigation in the region.
2. US bases became vulnerabilities: The extensive US military base network across the region, previously viewed as a strategic advantage, was turned into a major vulnerability because it could come under Iranian attack and require substantial resources to defend.
3. US intelligence superiority was challenged: Strikes on sensitive intelligence facilities, according to Moqaddamfar, challenged the assumption that US intelligence networks and strategic facilities are beyond the reach of adversaries.
4. The myth of absolute US military-technology superiority was broken: Reported damage to advanced US aircraft, drones, naval systems and other equipment demonstrated that even sophisticated American military technology is not invulnerable.
5. The psychological impact extends globally: The perceived vulnerability of advanced US systems affects both Washington’s rivals, by increasing their confidence in developing countermeasures, and its allies, by raising questions about the reliability of US security guarantees.
6. US allies are reassessing their security calculations: Regional states are increasingly considering diversification of foreign relations, reducing one-sided security dependence on Washington and developing regional security mechanisms.
7. Iran reversed the “economy of war” equation: Iran used its geopolitical position and military capabilities to transfer part of the economic costs of conflict to the US and the global economy, affecting energy markets, insurance, maritime transport and financial markets.
8. The war entered US domestic calculations: Rising energy costs, ammunition consumption, air-defense requirements, base-protection costs and market disruptions meant that the conflict increasingly affected Washington’s domestic military, economic and political calculations.
9. The three pillars of US power faced a major challenge: Military power, economic power and hegemony are the main pillars of US global influence, and the conflict challenged perceptions of American military invulnerability, its ability to shift economic costs onto others, and its political legitimacy and ability to protect allies.
10. The consequences go beyond victory or defeat: The strategic significance of the conflict lies in challenging several assumptions about US power: its ability to control the geography of war, the security of its bases, the invulnerability of its advanced weapons, its ability to externalize the costs of war, and its capacity to guarantee allies’ security. He described the developments as a turning point in the regional and global security order.
