Araqchi made the remarks during a meeting with Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis in New York on Tuesday on the sidelines of the 81st annual session of the UN General Assembly.
The two foreign ministers discussed the latest state of Iran-Greece bilateral relations, interactions between Iran and the European Union, and the latest regional and international developments.
Araqchi referred to the long and historic ties between Iran and Greece and stressed the importance of continuing political consultations and expanding economic and cultural cooperation between Tehran and Athens.
Outlining Iran’s positions on developments in West Asia, the Iranian foreign minister emphasized the need for all countries to abide by international law, safeguard national sovereignty and respect the UN Charter.
He stressed that countering unilateralism and acts of aggression is a key condition for preserving international stability and security.
For his part, the Greek foreign minister welcomed the continuation of bilateral dialogue and emphasized Greece’s interest in strengthening diplomacy and playing a constructive role in resolving regional and international disputes.
