An Islamic Waqf official said the repeated incursions violated the historical status quo governing the holy site.
The official, who requested anonymity, told Anadolu that hundreds of occupiers entered the compound under Israeli police protection.
The historical status quo predating Israel’s occupation of East Al-Quds in 1967 assigns the al-Quds Islamic Waqf, affiliated with Jordan’s Ministry of Endowments, exclusive responsibility for administering the 144-dunum Al-Aqsa compound as a place of worship exclusively for Muslims.
The latest incursions came after extremist Israeli right-wing groups called for large-scale entries into Al-Aqsa during Sukkot, which runs from Sept. 26 to Oct. 2.
The al-Quds Islamic Waqf said more than 1,500 occupiers entered the compound Sunday, followed by more than 1,700 on Monday and over 1,400 on Tuesday.
Israeli regime forces have intensified security measures around Al-Aqsa and across occupied East al-Quds during the Jewish holiday period.
Since 2003, Israeli police have unilaterally allowed occupiers to enter the compound through the Mughrabi Gate, accompanied by police officers.
Meanwhile, Israeli occupier violence against Palestinians and their property has continued to escalate across the occupied West Bank.
Israeli occupiers burned a vehicle and spray-painted racist slogans on the walls of a Palestinian home in Deir Sudan village, north of Ramallah, the Al-Baidar rights organization said Wednesday.
The group said the attack caused material damage and heightened tensions among residents, although the full extent of the damage was not immediately known.
The attack came amid a broader escalation in violence by Israeli occupiers against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.
In June, 14 UN special rapporteurs warned that the sharp increase in “occupier terrorism,” with support and complicity from the Zionist state in the occupied Palestinian territory, posed an existential threat to Palestinian communities.
According to figures from the Palestinian Wall and Colonization Resistance Commission, Israeli occupiers carried out 628 attacks across the West Bank, including occupied East al-Quds, in August.
An estimated 750,000 Israeli occupiers live in the West Bank, including occupied East al-Quds, across 194 settlements and 400 outposts, according to official Palestinian figures.
Since the start of Israel’s genocide in Gaza in October 2023, Israeli forces and occupiers have intensified attacks across the West Bank, killing 1,206 Palestinians, injuring around 13,350 others and detaining more than 24,600, according to Palestinian figures.
