Speaking at a ceremony marking the addition of new operational vehicles to the Red Crescent fleet on Thursday, Pirhossein Koulivand said the administration’s support for expanding the IRCS’s fleet has helped strengthen its rescue capabilities.

“Using new technologies is the right of the people, and by making use of these capacities, we pulled 7,250 people alive from beneath the rubble during the recent imposed war,” he said.

Koulivand said the Iranian Red Crescent is now among the world’s leading Red Crescent societies, adding that the organization has developed significantly compared with the past, even the previous month, through continued efforts to modernize its equipment.

He also said the Iranian Red Crescent has six million volunteers, compared with 18 million volunteers worldwide, noting that Iranians account for about one-third of the world’s Red Crescent volunteers.
