The director general for international peace and security at Iran’s Foreign Ministry summoned Norwegian Ambassador to Tehran Paul Bjornstad on Sunday morning and conveyed Iran’s formal protest over Norway’s failure to act against unauthorized Starlink activities in the country.
During the meeting, Hossein-Nejad explained the process through which the US and the Zionist regime have abused Starlink satellite internet systems to advance interventionist activities against Iran.
He said Iran strongly objects to Norway’s continued failure to fulfill its obligations as the country responsible for registering the Starlink network with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
Hossein-Nejad stressed that, based on decisions adopted by the ITU’s Radio Regulations Board (RRB) in recent years, the Norwegian government has been required to take the necessary measures to prevent unauthorized Starlink transmissions in Iranian territory.
However, he said, despite repeated follow-ups by the Islamic Republic of Iran, Norway has taken no effective action in this regard.
The Iranian official called for Norway to immediately convey and act upon Iran’s request for effective and urgent measures to halt activities by the Starlink system that violate Iran’s sovereignty and national security.
He also handed the Norwegian ambassador a formal note of protest.
